About My Journey
As a young boy, I wanted to transform the lives of others. Technology became my way of pursuing that goal, and it has carried me further than I could have imagined. I joined Microsoft in 1988 after being recruited from IIT Kanpur. There, I served as Principal Software Architect and Lead Engineer. My teams built technologies that people around the world still use every day. These included intelligent assistance features in Microsoft Office, such as AutoCorrect and AutoFormat, as well as the automation foundations of WordBASIC and Visual Basic for Applications (VBA). I continued my career at Microsoft partner organizations, applying and extending Microsoft technologies to transform entire industries. I created the Intelligent Filing Manager (INTELLIFM) at Wolters Kluwer, an AI invention that helped pioneer the software as a service (SaaS) business model. At Bloomberg L.P., I led the creation of the Bloomberg Valuation Service (BVAL), which brought transparency and trust to the pricing of millions of financial instruments. I later modernized enterprise platforms at Icon Parking Systems (Icon) and Fidelity National Information Services, Inc. (FIS). Today, I build AI systems on Microsoft Azure, designing intelligent chatbots, virtual assistants, and voice systems for finance, health care, retail, and legal services. In 2026, Apress, an imprint of Springer Nature, published my book, The Microsoft AI Insider’s Playbook: Your Guide to Cloud Strategy and Digital Transformation. It distills my decades of experience into practical guidance for leaders navigating AI adoption and digital transformation. The response has been deeply gratifying: Brainz Magazine featured it as one of five essential books on branding, leadership, management, and AI, and CIO.com published my article on measuring automation. I am now working on my next book. Through it all, my goal has remained the same one I set as a boy: to build technology that serves people and transforms lives.
